If you're going to be a success online marketing your website and its products or
services you really need to pay attention to how well you optimize your site for the
search engines.
There are literally millions and millions of searches for information in hundreds of
thousands of categories going on everyday via the search engines. Google, Yahoo, MSN and
the dozens more search engines are a huge source (over 65%) of the traffic that hits
the Internet so don't waste the opportunity to capitalize on all the visitors they
could be sending your way by not optimizing your site.
But what kind of techniques should you be using to achieve better search engine
popularity and how do you know that what you're doing is going to get your
webpages ranked and send you more traffic?
After all, more traffic is your main objective, isn't it?
I'll give you a quick overview here, but for in-depth details of how-to get more search
engine traffic you can download my Free Ebook...

When most people think of search engine optimization they're usually thinking in terms
of how to optimize eachpage with specific criteria aimed at the search engines.
These might include, but are not limited to, keywords, keyword insertion rates, meta
tags, H1 tags and page content to name a few.
True, that is an important part of SEO, but it is only one of an integral series of
techniques and strategies you should be employing to get your pages and site noticed and
ranked better by all of the search engines in order to get Free targeted traffic from
them.
So how do you go about getting the SE's to notice your site?
First look at the big picture. What's your site about andis it focused on presenting
information to your visitorsthat is relevant to them. I don't know how many times I've
searched for something using a search engine, went to a site and found not only didn't it
have the info I was looking for, but it had absolutely no organization about it to help me
find the info even if they had it on their site.
Yikes...! what a waste of time.
Well anyway, getting SE traffic depends on more than just optimizing
just a few pages on your site. With google apply for it's patent on search engine
technology things are going to become a bit more complicated. Google being the number
1 SE on the planet has decided that highly targeting their advertising activities to
"your" individual needs is going to be their priority.
They will be recording and analyzing individual searches to proactively provide the
information, products or services they think you might be wanting.
So how do you prepare your site for Google's new criteria and changing algorithms?
Google has always said that sites should provide relevant information for people
surfing the net. After all the Internetwas set up as an information database, a library if
you will, that people looking for information could go to in order to find solutions to
their problems. Guess what - it still is and it will always be that.
So my answer for what to do is to do just what Google has always said - provide
relevant keyword rich content (and lots of it) on a regular basis, set up reciprocal
links, create backlinks to your site.
All of these are straight forward and easy things to do.
You can get all of the relevant content you want from article directories, you can
easily create reciprocal link opportunities by going to Google or one of the other search
engines and looking for sites similar to your own and writing the webmaster and asking for
a link and you can create back links to your site by writing and publishing articles about
your niche or specialty.
The only downside to getting them done is that they are time consuming unless you
know some of the short cuts coveredin my free ebook.
Once you've got this process established you need to test, monitor and
tweak the pages you've optimized as necessary.
